Economic Research Group Meeting
April 15, 2009
The meeting was called together at the SM Elks club at noon with 31 members
present. Chairman Keefer announced that it was unfortunate that 6 members
and one guest did not call to advise of their absence.
He then introduced a guest (and newest member of our group), Don
Milburn; Welcome Don!
After lunch, he introduced the speaker, Bobbi Decker. She is a Broker
Associate with Intero Real Estate Services in San Mateo. The title of her
presentation was, "Not business as usual"; The Changing Landscape.
She held the attention of all attendees as she discussed the causes and
results of the downturn in the Real Estate market, focusing on the lack of
scrutiny of loan applications, and the fraudulent dealings of many in the
industry; brokers, banks, mortgage companies, etc. She compared the market
in our specific area with other areas in Northern California, and was
optimistic that there would be a slow, but steady return to some
normalcy. The question period was spirited and interesting. Overall, a good
program and very informative.
OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON MAY 20 AT DOMINIC'S COYOTE POINT. The menu
will be Veal Parmesan, or Salmon Provencal.
