1. Our meeting next month will start at 2 pm on the 4th Thursday, January 27, 2011. My main phone number is 697-8665 (Fran’s home) and 343-4847 (my deceased wife-Helga’s home) this residence is an alternative number where we have our meetings each month. If you need to contact me after about 1 PM before or during the meeting, use that number.
2. Because we are having our Christmas party in an hour, we will modify our schedule
and go right into “John Chiapelone’s corner”
A. Did anyone bring samples of problems in their garden?
B. Garden clinic & other miscellany. Gardening comments, good and bad
experiences, etc. from all present.
3. For your assistance in looking up information, I always have the following reference books available each month for you to review; A. California Master Gardener Handbook, University of California, B. Sunset Western Garden Book, and Ortho’s Home Gardener’s Problem Solver. These will be in the den today for your reference.
4. Is there any specific subject that you would like information on? After the meeting look them up in one or more of the above 3 publications.
5. I encourage you to determine which varieties of perennials, roses, camellias, etc. you want to plant during the next 4 months. Review your catalogues and make a list to select from, particularly those plants available in the nurseries you patronize. Several times I found myself at a nursery ready to purchase or order perennials without such a list and relying on my memory for choices, or looking at pictures they had available. Frequently, 1 or 2 of the plants I purchased or ordered were disappointing.
6. I will send you December 2010/January 2011 by E-mail, I still have several things to update and incorporate. My eye problems have severely slowed down my typing speed .

The group meets in Harold Lembright's home on the fourth Thursday of every month at 2:00 P.M. at 159 Los Robles Drive, Burlingame, California. There is no dress code for this group, and wives are invited. One should call first to verify that a meeting will occur and where the meeting place will be.
At the meetings, various garden practices, such as irrigation methods, propagation, soil analysis, pest control, pruning, rose selections, fertilizing, etc., are discussed. Whenever it is possible, a hands-on-approach is used in the discussions. Once a year, the group has an outside speaker on gardening, as well as a field trip.
At each of the meetings, each member receives six-page list of things to be done in one's garden for the next month. The results from this are discussed at the next meeting.
The last meeting of each year is the group's Annual Christmas Party.

The Gardening Group was created in 1990 by Harold Lembright, and Harold has been the Chairman of this group ever since.
