The mission of the Stamp Group is to promote for its members the enjoyment of philately through the sharing of knowledge and the exchange of stamps and stamp collecting materials. It discusses various aspects and ways for collecting stamp products. It is open to every one, whether he is a beginner or a novice. The more advanced members will give advice on how to collect stamps and help others in identifying stamps. There will also be an opportunity for trading stamps. The Group meets at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation on every third Monday at 10:00 A.M. located at 1700 South El Camino Real, San Mateo.
History:
The Stamp Group was started on November 20, 2006, and the group met at the Peninsula Community Foundation. There were seven members in attendance at the first meeting. A picture of the founding members is shown below:
The Founding Members are from Left to Right: Dean Mawdsley, John Young, Bob Shoemaker, George Henderson, Ed Morey, Gil Goodrich, and Garry Crispell.
