Mission Statement: The SIRs Stamp Group is organized to promote for its members the enjoyment of philately through the sharing of knowledge and the exchange of stamps and stamp collecting materials.

The 7th meeting of the SIRs Stamp Group was held May 21, 2007, 10:00am, at the Western Philatelic Library in Sunnyvale. Attendees were Garry, John, Bob, Ed, Dick, Dean, George, Gil.

Activities:

George presented a pair of US booklet panes which appeared to the eye to be the same, except that one was worth $10 and the other was worth $300. The skilled eye of John discerned the difference between them to be the size of the date printed in the foot margin.

Discussions were held on: of Stamp Group trading activities, dispositions of stamp collections and stamp collection estates by heirs, the need for a ‘check list’ for heirs in the sale of inherited stamp collections. Gil is a member of the APS Estate Advisory Service, and available to any who wish advice on a volunteer basis.

Ed mentioned a trading club in Belmont that meets on the last Monday of each month, 10:00am, at the Seniors’ Center, located near El Camino and Ralston.

It was agreed that more trading of stamps will be done in the June meeting; so bring your items for trade.
